Anda-Olsen & BRE Digital: advancing Hospital UPS Safety

Publisert 06.05.2024

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is essential in hospitals to maintain vital functions and safety during power outages.

In places where every second counts and human lives are at stake, UPS ensures that critical systems such as operating rooms and intensive care units continue to operate without interruption. By keeping heart monitors running, ventilators operational, and operating lights on, UPS can be the difference between life and death in critical situations. This underscores the importance of a secure and stable power supply in hospitals.

Anda-Olsen has partnered up with BRE Digital, experts in digitalization and IoT. This partnership was established to provide a more detailed overview of the technical building equipment used in hospital operations, where safe and consistent power supply is crucial for patient safety and hospital operations.

UPS with IoT Technology

Anda-Olsen has integrated its reliable UPS solutions with BRE Digital's IoT platform, and will offer hospitals an enhanced ability to monitor and control their building technical equipment under a common cloud-based visualization system. This collaboration provides advanced monitoring of real-time data and predictive maintenance from key components, from large generators down to small individual batteries. This prevents technical faults, ensures longer equipment life, and reliability for the hospital's mission-critical infrastructure.

With BRE Digital's technology, the cloud solution can be customized to benefit from the information within the hospital's building technical equipment. In addition to information from Anda-Olsen's UPSs and our battery sensors, for example, ground fault monitoring equipment can be integrated to identify and handle potential issues before they escalate. Displaying content from network analyzers or the various conditions in the operation of generators are other examples.

From a security perspective, the cloud solution is designed so that the equipment only sends data outwards, making the system integrated into existing IT systems in a safe manner, thus ensuring IT security. Data is stored locally on a data server in Norway.

Another useful feature is integration with Norpool for an overview of electricity prices, which gives hospitals the opportunity to manage their energy costs more effectively.

Increased Operational Reliability

The collaboration between Anda-Olsen and BRE Digital has led to a solution that not only improves operational reliability but also reduces operating costs through more efficient maintenance and improved operational efficiency. This solution ensures that critical medical devices remain operational even under challenging conditions, giving hospitals a vital safety margin.

Annual Conference in Oslo

Details of the collaboration will be presented at the FSTL (Forum for Hospital Technical Management) annual conference in Oslo, from May 6 to May 8, 2024. This is an ideal opportunity to explore how strategic partnerships can strengthen mission-critical infrastructure in hospitals.
